HOBART: Tasmania’s misty forests and towering eucalypts have shaped the interiors of the new Adina Hobart, creating a 48-key apartment hotel grounded in its island setting.
Designed by Clifford Rip of Suede Interior Design in collaboration with owners Richard and Annalisa Doedens from Raadas Property Group, the hotel draws its palette, textures and organic forms from the Tasmanian wilderness. Natural timbers, neutral tones, soft greens and deep orange accents reference the warm, organic character of the state’s eucalypt forests.

Rather than treating Tasmania as a decorative theme, the design team looked closely at the landscapes around Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park and the Central Highlands. Filtered light, forest mist, tactile bark and dense layers of green informed an interior intended to feel calm, contemporary and unmistakably connected to place.
“With Adina Hobart, we wanted to craft a hotel that feels intrinsically connected to Tasmania,” owner and developer Richard Doedens said. “The palette, the textures and the organic forms all draw from the quiet beauty of the eucalypt forests that define so much of the state’s landscape.”
“Our design approach also focuses on warmth and comfort, while still delivering the sophistication expected of an Adina. By anchoring the interiors in natural materials and rounded, calming shapes, we’ve created a place that feels both grounded and refined.”
The connection between the hotel and the Tasmanian landscape is reinforced through original photography captured across the state by hotel owner Annalisa Doedens and her son Elliot Doedens, a talented photographer and outdoor enthusiast who also works as the hotel’s receptionist. Every destination featured in the artwork can be reached within a three-hour drive of the apartment hotel.
Carrying a Leica M10 and tripod into Mt Field National Park, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair and the Southwest Wilderness, Elliot documented the region’s ancient forests, endemic pandani, deciduous fagus and moss-clad eucalypts. Long exposures, some lasting several seconds, allowed him to capture the depth and intensity of the forests’ velvety greens
The resulting photographs do more than decorate the hotel. Their layered textures, natural tones and shifting light helped inform its wider interior aesthetic, giving guests an immediate visual connection to the landscapes beyond Hobart.
Adina Hobart’s studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments continue the design language while giving guests room to live, work and unwind. Each includes a fully equipped kitchen, with selected apartments able to interconnect to form three-bedroom accommodation.
That story continues at reception, where Elliot also works with guests, sharing the walks, wilderness areas and local places depicted throughout the property. The person behind the landscape photography can therefore help visitors experience those same places for themselves.
Adina Hobart presents a distinctly Tasmanian interpretation of the brand’s apartment-style experience: contemporary but warm, refined without feeling formal, and shaped by the landscape rather than a passing trend.

Set within the same mixed use development as the 142-key Vibe Hobart, this Adina hotel represents a significant evolution of the site at a time when Tasmania’s capital is experiencing the highest visitor numbers on record, with 1.36 million visitors* welcomed in 2025. Adina guests will have full access to the onsite amenities including Belvedere restaurant and bar, conferencing facilities, pool and gym.
According to TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, Adina’s continued growth across Australia and beyond reflects the strength of a brand that truly understands modern travellers.
“As we expand our global footprint, we’re seeing increasing demand for apartment style hotels that offer the space, flexibility, and contemporary design that Adina does so well,” Sedgwick said. “With every new opening, whether here at home or in key international cities, Adina anchors our premium offering and showcases the best of Australian hospitality on the world stage.”
At the heart of the Hobart development are owners and developers Richard and Annalisa Doedens, whose hands-on approach to design, in collaboration with TFE, has guided both the architectural expression of the original build and the distinctive character of each hotel within it. With a passion for merging history, texture, and modern craftsmanship, the team has curated an Adina experience that feels authentically Tasmanian, while still unmistakably aligned with the brand’s new direction.
