PARIS: In a landmark moment for tourism in the region, the MICHELIN Guide has officially recognised 35 hotels across Australia and a further 19 in New Zealand at its inaugural global MICHELIN Keys ceremony held in Paris overnight.
Launched in 2024 with a focus on just 15 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia, the MICHELIN Keys program has expanded its reach to include the most exceptional hotels across the globe including Australia and New Zealand.
“Just as MICHELIN Stars celebrate the world’s most exceptional restaurants, MICHELIN Keys now honour hotels that offer truly remarkable stays, where design, service, and location come together to create unforgettable moment,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guide*.
“With their unique field expertise, MICHELIN Guide Inspectors have selected the finest properties from across the globe, reflecting the diversity and excellence of today’s hospitality landscape.”
Among the standout winners, three design-led Collection by TFE Hotels properties were proudly flying the flag for Australasia - Sydney’s bold newcomer The EVE Hotel, Brisbane’s The Calile Hotel, and Auckland’s sustainably stylish The Hotel Britomart each earned a coveted One Key recognition for their work in breaking the mold, being best in class, and delivering service that goes the extra mile.
TFE Hotels’ Chief Executive Officer, Antony Ritch, said each of the Collection hotels had been developed by owners with a unique vision for hospitality, who had delivered not only world class hotels, but vibrant retail and dining destinations.
“At TFE, we believe that a hotel’s true identity is shaped not just by its brand, but by the people who bring it to life,” he said. “Our owners and developers are investing in quality and individuality.”
As Australia and New Zealand continue to develop as leading hospitality markets, Antony reaffirmed TFE’s commitment to continually reimaging the guest experience.
“By working with like-minded owners, innovators and designers with an unwavering commitment to the guest experience, we are proud to be part of the exciting growth of hospitality in our region.” he said.
Excitingly for TFE, The Interlude at Destination Pentridge was also recognised with the Australian cohort, receiving a One Key from MICHELIN.
MICHELIN Inspectors have five universal criteria when selecting hotels: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting.
