Getting to Sydney

If you are arriving by airplane, Sydney’s CBD is about a 25 minute drive from the International and Domestic Terminals at Kingsford-Smith Airport. The Adina Sydney Airport is the perfect place to rest if you are laying-over for the night. Located just two kilometres from the airport.

Likewise, a taxi to the CBD will set you back between $45AUD - $65AUD during non-peak periods, while the Sydney Airport Shuttle, which leaves from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 every 15-25 minutes, costs about $22AUD each way.

TFE Hotels local tip: While these are the most scenic options, if you’re after speed – or just want to rub shoulders with the locals, catch a train from inside Terminal 1 and you’ll be in the CBD within 15 minutes. The AirportLink stops at the major train stations in the CBD, including Central Station, Town Hall Station and Wynyard Station. An Adult single ride to the city costs $17.00AUD.

Activities in Sydney CBD

Whatever your passion, Sydney can – and will - indulge it. Be it architecture, wining and fine dining, the arts, adventure or just hanging out by the beach, a city as diverse and full of life as Sydney has plenty to offer visitors from both overseas and interstate.

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge
It’s one thing to see Sydney Harbour Bridge from afar, but it’s quite another to climb it. BridgeClimb host daily climbing tours of the iconic landmark and for those with a sense of adventure, it is a stunning way to see the city with a 306-degree, panoramic view from the summit. For those looking for a special experience, book a Twilight or Dawn climb. The closest place to stay is the Rendezvous Hotel Sydney, The Rocks, just minutes away.

Take a peek inside the Opera House
Described as ‘the most beautiful building in the world,’ the daily tours of the magnificent Sydney Opera House take place every hour for an hour between 9am and 5pm. It costs $37AUD for adults and, not only are the public taken on a tour of this iconic building, docents will share intriguing and little-known insights as well as first-hand knowledge of the history and architecture of this building whose construction was mired in bitter controversy and politics.

Shopping at The Rocks
The Rocks precinct is the heart of Sydney’s colonial past. Wind your way through the narrow alley ways dating back to the 1700’s, a time when Sydney was just a convict penal settlement. Stop at the boutique shops or pick up a bargain at the pop-up market appearing every weekend.

Brave souls may look to book a ghost tour, while culinary connoisseurs will enjoy the more than 50 avant garde food, wine and coffee vendors applying their trade within the heritage sandstone buildings. Take a guided bike tour down to Circular Quay and the Overseas Passenger Terminal or marvel at the art in the iconic Museum of Contemporary Art. As the sun sets, gaze up at the stars in Sydney’s magnificent Observatory.

Ride the rails at Luna Park
Another harbour-side activity is Sydney’s Luna Park at Milsons Point. The fairground offers stunning views of the city, especially at night. Entry is free but rides start at about $16 for two rides.

TFE Hotels local tip: If you are visiting Sydney in May, don’t miss the Vivid Light Festival.  The CBD becomes awash with spectacular light and colour and iconic landmarks such as the Opera House, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour display spectacular lights and shows that will dazzle the eyes. For all tours, just speak to the team at your TFE hotel to make a booking.

Activities in Greater Sydney

If you are looking to get out of the CBD, jump on a Sydney Ferry and head out to Darling Harbour, Cockatoo Island or head further out to Manly. Tickets cost between $6.20 and $15.20 and it is a great way to travel out of the city.

Visit Bondi Beach
No visit to Sydney would be complete with a visit to one of the best beaches in the world. Feel the golden sands of Bondi Beach beneath your feet before you catch that next gnarly wave to the shore. Stop for a bite to eat at Icebergs or head out to Bondi Junction for some retail therapy. Stay at Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach, just 2 minutes from the water or at the Adina Apartment Hotel Coogee just south of Bondi.

Pat a kangaroo in Blacktown
Featherdale Wildlife Park is about 45 minutes west from Sydney’s CBD and is the perfect place to experience some of Australia’s native critters up close and personal. Just few minute drive from the Adina Norwest Sydney, you can pat a koala or feed a kangaroo or emu. The Park also has wombats, native birds and the endangered Tasmanian Devil. It is the perfect day out for the family.

TFE Hotels local tip: For some free activities, stroll through the bohemian streets of Newtown in Sydney’s Inner West, just a kilometre from Adina Apartment Hotel Chippendale.
