Welcome to Wollongong, the home of beautiful sandy beaches and friendly smiling faces. There's so much to see and do in The Gong, and you've come to the right place for inspiration.
Beach holidays are ingrained in Aussie culture, the sand and the surf occupying a special place in our national identity. Lathered in sunscreen, armed with beach umbrellas and eskies, we head to the beach for a cooling swim, a game of beach cricket, a feed of fish and chips while seagulls greedily hover.
Who doesn’t love a country drive? Hitting the open road for some fresh air and a change of scenery not only gives regional areas a much-needed boost, it’s a great opportunity for us to learn more about our history, culture and landscape.
There was a time when Wollongong’s chief drawcard was its proximity to big sister Sydney. But it’s safe to say those days are long gone, as the city’s fine dining and small bar culture, coupled with its beautiful beaches and bike tracks, make it a superb destination in its own right.
