Sydney’s biggest and best Easter celebration is just around the corner, opening its gates from 6 - 17 April 2023. The show boasts everything from mouth-watering food to exhilarating rides and an adorable collection of animals. Read on for the 6 things you must do at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

1. Visit the Animals

Your little ones will enjoy following the animal walk which takes them through the puppy competition and alpaca promenade. The Miniature Goat Show is back this year as is the very popular competition for Best Pig in Show. Pay homage to all the winners as horses, cattle, alpacas and everything in between parade around the Main Arena on April 7, 9 and 14. As well as all the cute, cuddly and friendly animals, the show features fascinating creatures like snakes, lizards, and spiders. And this year, for the first time, there’s a native animal display where you can get up close with your favourite Aussie bush animals.

2. Be Entertained

There’s no shortage of live entertainment on offer, from the Bluey Live Interactive Experience to the nail-biting spectacle of international dare devil, Sam Powers, in a straight jacket, suspended in the air under a flaming set of steel jaws. After runaway success around Australia, the Rooftop Express Show brings the Heroes of the Outback to the show with incredible stunts, true blue Australian comedy, and awe-inspiring horsemanship. The nightly drone show is also spectacular and make sure you stick around for the fireworks.

3. Eat Something Sweet

Those with a sweet tooth have some great treats in store including the Pizza Dobomb, a twist on two classics – it looks like a doughnut but is made from fresh pizza dough. There’s a even a savoury option if you're feeling like it. For more sweet treats, try the Sticky Banana on a Stick (deep-fried banana coated in banana bread batter) or stop by at Cinnabon for their incredibly popular cinnamon rolls, available at the show for the first time. And don’t miss the CWA Tea Room for their famous scones with jam and cream.

4. Watch the Grand Parade

This event has been on at the show since 1907! Learn about Australia’s agriculture in the most spectacular way, as farm animals, producers and champion wood choppers make their way around the stadium. The parade also features world-class circus artists, dazzling costumes, and moves that need to be seen to be believed. Marvel at the daring trapeze artist and the performer spinning and twisting inside the mesmerizing Cyr wheel.

5. Get the Kids a Showbag...or Two

Ask any 5–12-year-old what they're most excited about seeing at the Easter Show and we guarantee they'll say the showbags. There are hundreds of showbags to choose from, ranging from your favourite TV shows to sports teams and tasty treats. Whether you’re after an AFL themed bag or one stuffed with chocolate, you definitely won't go home disappointed.

6. Be Inspired by Creativity

Whether you’re an art collector, a craft enthusiast, or simply looking to be inspired, the Sydney Royal Arts & Crafts Show is a must. With nearly 5,000 entries in 300 classes, it’s the biggest Arts & Crafts competition in Australia. Creative men and women of the past 150 years are honoured in an incredible display of craft through the decades.
