Keeping the kids entertained in Perth is easy with a whole host of family-friendly activities on offer. Here’s a round-up of things to do this summer that are fun for both the lil’ ones and the young at heart.

Visit The Maze Water Park

For water sports of a different kind, head to The Maze and test out the exhilarating Plummet Slide, which boasts a speedy seven metre drop. Gentler slopes can be found in the Outback Splash section of the park and there’s a whole lot of fun to be had out of the water, making your way through one of the challenging mazes or getting up close and personal with cuddly koalas.

Check out a Video Game Museum

Rainy day? Head to The Nostalgia Box in Northbridge. As Australia’s first and only video game console museum, The Nostalgia will have both big and small kids giddy with excitement. Browse amongst rare retro consoles and see which ones you recognize, then test your skills in the interactive gaming area.

Challenge the kids to an Escape Room

If the troupe has energy to burn, Escape Hunt is your best rainy day bet. Working in teams, you’ll have 60 minutes to work your way through a series of clues and puzzles to solve a mystery and make your escape from the ship, tavern or prison. Each of the rooms has multiple scenarios, making this a place you can come back to again and again.

Watch a movie outdoors

The warmer months mark the start of outdoor cinema season and you and the kids are spoilt for choice in Perth. Rooftop Movies, on the sixth storey of a Northbridge carpark, has something most nights of the week, with films ranging from the best new releases to trusty old favourites. There’s also pizza and beanbags. Moonlight Cinema in Kings Park focuses more on the new stuff and allows patrons to BYO, creating perfect conditions for a relaxed picnic under the stars, complete with glass of wine for mum or dad.

Get active on the Scarborough foreshore

State-of-the-art playground, skateboard, tennis, basketball and swimming facilities make the Scarborough foreshore a great destination for the whole family. With the Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough providing the perfect base, let the kids burn off energy in the foreshore’s lagoon-style pool and whale-themed playground. Daring young skateboarders can head to the Snake Pit, while the beautiful beach is a great spot to catch a wave.
