Bursting with puzzles that are much more exciting than the ones you do with grandma, escape rooms are one of your best bets for escaping a chilly day. There’s a great selection to choose from in each capital city, each room offering a different theme and challenges for you and your team mates to overcome. You might find yourself inside someone’s memory, stuck inside a prison cell, or newly employed as Sherlock Holmes’ eagle-eyed assistant. 

Paint and Sip 

Paint and Sip studios have taken the country by storm, with studio locations in most capital cities. Successfully combining two of our favourite things - creativity and wine – they come in a variety of formats, depending on the company hosting them. Generally, you can BYO your favourite bottle and nibbles to snack on. Settle in for a hands-on painting class and create a masterpiece that you get to take home. 

Indoor Skydiving

Cooking Classes 

Cold winter days are made for feasting. While you could book a table at a restaurant, there’s something satisfying about eating a fancy dish you’ve created from scratch. Look for cooking classes in most capital cities, such as the Seafood School at the Sydney Fish Market, and classes at the South Melbourne Market. Classes usually involve enjoying the fruits of your labour alongside a glass or two of vino - something which, we can all agree, only adds to the appeal. 

Wine and Cocktail Appreciation 

There's nothing better than cosying up to a good glass of spicy shiraz or a classic olive martini. Right around the country you’ll find cosy wine bars and poised establishments slinging out delicious-ly fancy cocktails. In Melbourne, new kid on the block, Olivine wine bar offers over 500 wine labels for you to choose from while Dean & Nancy on 22 in Sydney shakes up a divine cocktail sky high.  

Get Cultured and a little Inspired 

On a rainy cold day, culture vultures and art aficionados will be spoiled for choice with museums, design markets and art galleries dotted around major Australian cities.
